The loss of legendary NBA star Kobe Bryant surpasses Google searches over the Grammys

On Sunday Jan. 26, what was supposed to be a night full of celebration at the Grammy Music Awards turned into a day of mourning for America. Former NBA star Kobe Bryant, was announced dead at the age of 41, in a tragic helicopter accident along with 7 other passengers. Kobe’s 13 year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant was also amongst the passengers killed in this tragedy. The accident happened around 10 am on Sunday morning in Calabasas, California.

Shortly after the devastating news was announced, Kobe Bryant was not only trending on Twitter but his searches on Google began to skyrocket as reported by Google Trends.

On the same day of this tragedy The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards were set to transpire at The Staples Center. The Staples Center is also home to the Los Angeles Lakers. The team that Kobe became a legend and an inspiration to many in the game of basketball. 

For that reason, there was a small debate amongst fans that the Grammy Awards should be canceled due to the death of Bryant. Regardless of the debate, the show still went on. During The Grammy Awards Kobe was honored by big stars such as Alicia Keys, Lizzo, John Legend and DJ Khaled

According to the Google Search Data Analysis, despite the Grammys being the biggest night in music, Kobe Byrant still had more searches than the award show.

Football’s biggest day of the year is just right around the corner. Super Bowl LIV is set to kick off at 6:30 pm on Sunday, Feb. 2. For the first time ever The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will be playing in the 54th annual Super Bowl at The Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. 

The stakes this year are high. This is the Chief’s first time since 1970 at the Super Bowl. This will also be  the 49ers seventh Super Bowl, with 5 super bowl wins under their belts. If the San Francisco 49ers are to win take the title of The Super Bowl LIV champions, they will have the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history. Alongside the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Another big talk about this year’s Super Bowl is the halftime show. This year Jennifer López along with Shakira will be headlining the show. With her talked about comeback at the Grammys, Demi Lovato will also be singing the National Anthem. 

With just a week away from The Super Bowl LIV searches on Google are rising according to Google Trends.

Although the excitement and talk over the big football event is not the same this year. After the unexpected loss of Legendary NBA star Kobe Bryant. Along with his daughter, Gianna Bryant and 7 other passengers on Sunday morning due to a helicopter accident. It is evident that America is still mourning the loss of Kobe Bryant.

 Even with just a few days away from the Super Bowl, Bryant still surpasses the amount of searches being conducted on Google Trends
